Safe by default
Security that doesn't get in your way
Most simple FTP apps cut corners on safety. Ferry doesn't.
- FTPS on by default. New FTP connections use TLS encryption automatically, with a clear warning if you ever turn it off.
- Encrypted saved passwords. Credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM in a portable config file — never stored in plain text.
- Host-key & certificate trust. Ferry verifies SSH host keys and TLS certificates, and asks before trusting an unknown or changed one — just like the pros.

Where are my passwords stored?
In a single connections file, encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The file is portable, so you can back it up or move it between computers.
